Scorpio Full Moon: When Your Body Asks You to Let Go

Shadow and Soul... How do we integrate?

Have you been living life thinking that you were finally free from everything that’s happened to you so since January 2026? If life feels like a lot suddenly or that you're struggling to get your footing, it could partly be because of our current lunar phase. If you’ve been feeling more emotional, more tense, irritable, and exhausted, it’s not something that you’re doing wrong, we are all experiencing a full moon in Scorpio May 1st, 2026.

This Full Moon happening in Scorpio is anything but superficial and fleeting. Scorpio, at its best, is a sign that represents intense passion, mystery and deep emotional transformation. It pulls emotions up from the depths, especially the ones we’ve been avoiding, suppressing, or trying to control. You’ll find yourself trying to emotionally, physically, and energetically swim away from unprocessed pasts that are demanding to be felt. And with wanting to escape drowning, how can you focus on everyday responsibilities when even breathing feels impossible? Realistically, your body is trying to communicate with you everything that's been unconsciously stored and potentially causing harm to your everyday life.

What This Full Moon Is Really Doing to Us

Astronomically, a Full Moon is when the Sun and the Moon are in opposite constellation signs in the sky. The Taurus Sun completely illuminates the Scorpio Moon, making the Moon's face appear as a bright and complete circle in the sky. Astrologically, a full moon represents the peak and completion of the lunar cycle where we are propelled to release stagnant, and often heavy emotional energy. What could this mean for us here on Earth?

Scorpio is stirring up our deepest emotions, urging us to transform, while Taurus is holding the line, reminding us to stay grounded and secure. The tug-of-war between the Sun and Moon creates restless, building pressure, much like the urgent need for a deep breath after being underwater for just a little too long. There's this insistent undercurrent that change is coming coupled with the fear of what must be surrendered in order to grow. We may not consciously grasp what needs to be surrendered, yet we intuitively crave the liberation it promises.

But this tension doesn't just stay trapped in our heads as looping thoughts; it leaks into our bodies too. It's the nights spent tossing and turning, the tight shoulders, the clenched jaws, and even that nervous knot in the pit of your stomach. I've personally been waking up from shadowy, intense dreams feeling completely drained before the day even begins. It's so much, all at once, and it leaves us all wondering, why?

“Why Am I Feeling Like This?” The Internal vs. The Physical

Think of Scorpio and Taurus as the two ends of a bridge. Scorpio manages the deep, internal systems including our hormones, reproductive health, and how we release what we no longer need. Taurus handles the external 'house' like our physical strength, our throats, and how we nourish ourselves. Because the two are facing off right now, you might feel internal friction as hormonal shifts, a heavy feeling in your limbs, or a stiff neck and jaw. It's basically a system overload as your body tries to balance the urge between letting go and the need to stay safe. This is that unshakeable mind-body connection. Our bodies aren't just shells; they're trying to store and process everything lingering in our subconscious. When we bottle up our feelings, that every doesn't just wash away like we all hope, it has to land somewhere, like in a container. Often, those random aches and pains are just our bodies waving a flag trying to tell us something our minds aren't ready to hear. Think of the Full Moon as permission to let go of the things you've been tightly clutching: the bottled-up feelings, the fried nerves, and the parts of your life that just don't feel like you anymore. It's a chance to clear the air and finally start living in a way that feels more real and honest to you, more in alignment.

How this Energy Might Show Up in Your life:

  • Old wounds you thought were healed

  • Fear of loss or lack of control

  • Jealousy, comparison, or emotional intensity

  • A deep desire to withdraw and process

  • Overthinking

  • Revisiting the past

  • Feeling more sensitive to people’s energy.

How To Support Yourself Through This Energy:

Try to treat yourself with the same patience and care that you'd give to a child. If you're a parent, imagine turning all that nurturing energy back toward yourself. Emotionally, give yourself permission to just sit with whatever feelings bubble to the surface. You don't need to 'fix' anything or have all the answers right now because this energy isn't about solving problems, we need to process to experience and move forward.

Physically, focus on quietly grounding and nurturing yourself. Think simply: stay hydrated, choose soothing, nourishing foods that calm your system instead or irritating it, and let rest be your highest priority. A Water Moon, like Scorpio, LOVES watery and comforting textures, like creamy, hydrating foods or anything that swims in the sea. Scorpio isn't asking you to do more, your body is asking you to lighten your load and let go of what's dragging you to the bottom of the sea.

Simple Ways to Find Your Balance

1.) Unfiltered journaling of what’s coming up for you
2.) Consume and be around water: during Water Moons like Scorpio, water will cleanse your soul
3.) Slow everything down to help regulate and stabilize your nervous system
4.) Breath work, yoga, and meditation (intentional movement is supportive)
5.) Limit overstimulation (social media, screens, and loud noises)
6.) Declutter your space and let something go (even if you can only clear out a kitchen junk drawer, anything helps)

Journal Prompts for a Scorpio Full Moon

I wrote this post while listening to Family Tree by Ethel Cain and Nothing Absolutely by Gigi Perez. To help you get into that same headspace and really tap into your subconscious, why not try putting these tracks on while you write. Music can help you hold space, especially where you're reflecting deeply answering the following prompts:

1.) What am I still holding onto that my body is asking me to release?

2.) What emotion have I been trying to control, suppress, or avoid and why?

3.) Where in my life do I feel unsafe to let go and what would help me feel supported instead?

Thank you

What helped you through the Scorpio Full Moon?
